Work
This is Ha. She is the president of the Vietnamese association for Student Support Associations. Student Support Associations are groups of individuals that share a common interest of a country and they have meetings and get together to learn more and prepare for a cultural night celebration at the end of the semester. (lots of dancing and singing).
To learn more about the Associations of BYU-I: go here.
I absolutely love her dress (it's a wedding dress from Vietnam). She was so sweet and fun to work with.

The Holy Ghost and Progression
This week I have learned much about The Holy Ghost and how the Holy Ghost speaks to me personally. Most times it is very hard to recognize if something is a prompting from the Holy Ghost or if you are simply have a thought. Some of the scriptures in 1 Corinthians are helping me to understand the spirit better and strive to recognize it more in my life. In 1 Corinthians 1 chapters 2 and 3, Paul talks a lot about the Holy Ghost and growing spiritually.
In chapter 2:5, Paul talks about how our faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Then in verse 11, he says "For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Paul teaches us here that we must learn to recognize the spirit to know the things of God.(The spiritual things that help us to progress and be happy in this life)
Paul then teaches us that we must throw away our natural man tendencies(which would be thinking mostly of ourselves and what we need, putting things of the world before God and our family) to receive and discern the spiritual things of God. Chapter 20:14- "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
A scripture in Chapter 3:2 goes right along with this last scripture. It reads- "I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able."
These scriptures teach me that if we are to progress spiritually and want to be able to recognize the Holy Ghost in out lives, we must throw aside out natural man tendencies(forget of ourselves, serve others) and prepare ourselves spiritually to be able to bear the learning and understanding God wants to give to us. I am grateful for the scriptures and the truths found therein. I hope to work on forgetting more of myself and serving others and doing the everyday things I need to, to have the spirit in my life and to recognize the promptings of the spirit more in my life.
Thanks for listening to my long posts on the scriptures! ha Once I start writing, it is hard to stop. I am so grateful for the scriptures and the truth and guidance they give me in my life, and to all. Have a wonderful weekend and week!

become a nerd about it
I am looking into a new lens. I went to my photography teacher and he helped me rent two lenses to compare. One was a 17-40 and another was a 17-55. He told me that when I look into buying one, I need to become a nerd about it in finding the right price. Both lenses are wide and fun to take pictures up close and personal.
My awesome 'grumpy cat' teacher requires us to pay for the Wall Street Journal and quizzes us over 6 of them every Friday. I hate touching them, so I hang them on the wall to just occasionally look at. 5/5 on the quiz this week!
I went to an interview with my faculty mentor, and she wrote this lovely note. "Lots of questions and good ideas! Anna will do well." That felt nice to hear.
I have always wanted to take a photo like this. yay my boots!
findings today
A red head called me "dude" twice today. And yes, it was a girl.
This is terrible but it makes me so happy:

Retreat
About a week ago, work took me on a trip to the Sky Mountain Lodge somewhere in Idaho. It was a neat experience to be with so many inspiring people and beautiful scenery. I take the things we have for granted too often.

Acts: Pauls missions
Howdy!
This weeks readings from the Acts have been a lot of fun and a lot of Paul! ha
We studied chapters 9, and 13-18. These verses talk a lot about Paul, his conversion, and his journey's or missions spreading the gospel to Jew and Gentile. Paul had a couple of mission companions during these journeys and they had some amazing experiences and some scary ones.
His mission companions were Barnabus and later Silas. It was amazing the miracles that they were able to perform and the reactions of the people after. One of the stories that I really enjoyed reading and studying was when Paul was companions with Barnabus and they went into a city called Lystra. They found a person that had been crippled since birth and they could tell that this person had Faith and they told him to stand up and he stood up and walked.
The people watching all went crazy and were praising Paul and Barnabus as though they were gods. It was neat to see how Paul and Barnabus reacted. In Acts Chapter 14:14-15 it says: "Which when the apostles, Barnabus and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out, And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? Who also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and things that are therein."
It's amazing how humble they were and how they recognized that these were the works of God and that they were instruments in his hands. After they said these things, the multitude completely changed and stoned Paul and drew him out of the city and left him for dead. The disciples found Paul and he said to the disciples that in order to enter into the kingdom of God, we must with much tribulation continue in the faith.
I am grateful for Paul's sacrifices and example of Diligence and of Faith. I hope that when we are going through a tough trial or feeling down, that we will remember what Paul taught and move forward and continue in the faith. I know that our Heavenly Father is aware of all of us and is always there to comfort and bless us with those things we need in our lives in the moment we need them.
Tenga una semana bien buena! Have a great Week!

The best e-mail ever
Hi Anna,
I've been reviewing your graduation planner, and it looks like you've planned for almost all of your communication credits, with the exception of two practicum credits COMM 297R and COMM 497R. These courses need to be planned for and completed in order to fulfill all requirements for graduation. Plan for those classes, and you will have met all other requirements for graduation. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions, and have a great day!
Abby
Thank you, Abby! I did have a great day before and especially after reading that e-mail.
I didn't know how to add the practicum credits to my graduation planner. But the good thing is that I'm currently taking two of them! This is the best feeling to know where I am at in school and where I am going and to have it all in front of me.
Fall 2014 - it's gonna be big.
This also means that I am taking around 17 credits every semester.
I have no life other than school & work.

Winter Goodies
This morning we woke up to the beautiful sight of no power.
BYU-Idaho postponed school until 11:30! So both of Kent's classes were postponed, and I only had one.
So we slept in until 11am.
It was a beautiful morning!

Things I'm learning while reading The Acts
Hola, This is Kent. I think this is my first post in a long time. I will be making some posts about every week or so about my scripture readings for the week. This is part of a New Testament class that I am taking this semester. I hope that these things that I find and share will be a help and a good message to all.
I was reading in Acts chapter 7 and versus 55 and 56 have always stood out to me because it talks about how Stephen was able to see God and Jesus Christ on the right hand of God. I kept reading as I was searching for a principle, and later in that chapter, actually the last verse in that chapter verse 60 it talks about Stephen and how he cried with a loud voice asking for the Lord to not let this be a sin to these people.
As I read this, my first reaction to Stephen was "how can you forgive these people that have stoned you for testifying of the truth". Stephen truly humbled himself and is helping me to see that we have to forgive everyone, no matter what someone else may do, and to what degree, we have to forgive others. Stephen is a great example to us all. I hope we can learn to be more forgiving. Have a great Day!

thankful | december
I spy the temple!
We weren't very thankful until the end of the month and just crammed things on there.
Well HI
This has been a wild week, but we are getting through it and it's 2013! I'm so excited for this year, we are budgeting our money better and trying to be better people.
Classes started today. I had a religion class this morning, and a writing class this afternoon. That writing class has already completely changed my perspective on writing/blogging. I hope to tie what I learn into my posts. I have already changed the way I think.
I just spent and hour doing an online assignment that is due Thursday. All I had to do was tell the online class about myself on this blog post and write down my favorite movie, and tv show. I ended up saying Hunger Games and Sister Wives. They probably all think I'm awesome.
Here are our first day of school photos:
We even had our clothes laid out the night before :)
And here is a picture of us and clean dishes
